We help healthcare and education leaders build cultures where people can stay and thrive.
Who we are
Wellness Embodied is a boutique organizational wellness and leadership development firm helping individuals and institutions move from burnout to sustainable wellbeing. We address both individual wellbeing and organizational culture—because human-centered systems create healthier people, and healthier people create better outcomes.
VISION
We envision a world where work systems are designed for human flourishing—where individual thriving and organizational excellence are inseparable.
MISSION
We partner with healthcare and education leaders to redesign work systems and build thriving communities where burnout becomes obsolete and collective potential flourishes.
Meet Bloodine Barthelus, Ed.D.
Dr. Bloodine Barthelus is the Founder and CEO of Wellness Embodied LLC. She is a former school counselor and cross-sector leader with deep experience in social-emotional learning, adult wellbeing, and organizational culture.
Bloodine started her career working in an emergency room as an intake counselor, meeting people in their most vulnerable moments and working side by side with clinicians to provide support. Before launching Wellness Embodied, Bloodine served as Senior Director of Practice at CASEL and as Director of School Climate and Social Emotional Learning at DC Public Schools, where she led large-scale efforts to support adult SEL, school climate, and educator resilience.
Her approach is shaped by three through-lines: lived experience in roles where burnout is common but rarely named; research and evidence on burnout, resilience, and systems change; and a deep belief in the power of community and small, consistent shifts.
Today, she partners with healthcare and education leaders to apply a Framework for Sustainable Practice—helping teams move from constant depletion toward sustainable, values-aligned work.
What we believe
These commitments guide every partnership we take on:
Work should be designed for human flourishing. Individual thriving and organizational excellence are not in competition—they strengthen each other when systems are aligned.
Burnout is a systems issue, not a personal failure. We honor individual stories, and we focus on the structures and norms that make sustainable practice possible—or impossible.
Leaders need support, not blame. Blame and shame hinder growth. We come to listen, reflect back patterns, and work alongside leaders on practical, compassionate strategies.
Change must be both aspirational and doable. Big visions matter, but so do the daily micro-shifts that staff and leaders can actually sustain.
Healing happens Better in Community™. Connection, recognition, and shared responsibility are infrastructure for resilience, safety, and retention.
Our Core Values
Power of Community
We believe healing happens better in community. Inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu—“I am because we are”—we center connection and shared accountability, knowing that thriving workplaces rely on collective responsibility and care.
Curiosity Fueled by Care
We ask bold questions with humility. Our curiosity is grounded in care and rooted in the belief that awareness—without judgment—paired with aligned action creates the conditions for meaningful growth.
Compassionate Growth
We pair empathy with supportive accountability. Our work helps people and systems grow with intention, aligning progress with values and building the capacity for long-term sustainability.
Wellbeing as Strategy
We treat wellbeing as a strategic priority, not an afterthought. By integrating rest and holistic health into the rhythm of work, we strengthen resilience, deepen capacity, and sustain high performance.
Faith in the Process; in Humanity
We believe in the potential of every person and organization. Transformation is a disciplined, iterative process, and we walk alongside our partners as they build the clarity, consistency, and alignment needed for lasting change.
Integrity
We act with principle and transparency. Our decisions, partnerships, and programs reflect a deep commitment to aligning our actions with our values and choosing what is right over what is convenient.
How we work with you.
We listen…first
We start with listening—learning from your leaders, staff, and existing data so we understand what’s really happening in your system, not just what’s written in plans.
We connect data with lived experience
We use tools like the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the domains within our Framework for Sustainable Practice to illuminate patterns, then layer in frontline stories so the picture is honest and actionable.
We design sustainable change together
We co-create realistic strategies, practices, and supports aligned with your mission and constraints—focusing on changes leaders and teams can actually sustain over time.
Interested in an aligned partnership that’s actually supportive? Let’s talk.
